Another hospital project approaches the finishing line
Throughout the pandemic JP Dunn Construction Ltd have been heavily involved in delivering hospital projects. Three of these jobs have been successfully handed over in the last few months – St Barts, Royal Brompton, and Douglas Bennet House on the Maudsley Hospital site.
The company is now engaged in getting another scheme across the line – a new Children and Young Persons (CYP) Mental Healthcare facility – again for the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM). The work is being carried out for Integrated Health Projects (IHP), Vinci Construction UK and Sir Robert McAlpine joint venture.
The new purpose-built facility will bring together world leading experts in clinical care and research from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) and King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN).
With floor space totalling 9,100m2 spread over 8 floors, the new CYP facility will enable clinicians and scientists to collaborate and identify treatments for the lives of children, young people and their families.
Designed by IBI Group, a key design feature employs multiple external roof terraces with the tiered design, enhancing movement of natural daylight into all areas.
JP Dunn began work on site in March 2021. The RC basement and 9 storey concrete frame will be completed in February 2022. The combined value of the DBH and CYP buildings is of the order of £8m.
